Romanian authors seem to have (or at least they used to) a particular affinity for French language and culture. Emil Cioran (1911-1995), like his friend and countryman Eugène Ionesco, settled in France and ended up writing most of his works in French. His philosophical meditations express a pessimism of a rather Buddhistic coloring. You can find out a lot about him, in a variety of languages, at cioran.eu.
