Jonathan Harker and Dr Seward have both just been shocked by the demeanor and behavior of the lunatic Renfield. I find it amusing that Dr Seward, who runs the asylum where Renfield is an inmate, seems to think lunatics worse than wild animals…
I have called Jonathan Harker a “real-estate agent,” because that is what he is in the novel, but in the film it is in fact Renfield who has taken over that function. Harker, so far as we know, is just an elegant young-man-about-town.
I am happy to have been able to include a pluperfect subjunctive verb in the French version.
