Why art thou sad, my Beppo?"
Mad Beppo (aka the Professor) is neither sad nor mad. He delights in French, poetry, film, and Baroque music. More about Mad Beppo…
Defoe’s Journal of the Plague Year, published in the late 18th century, purported to have been written in 1665.
I’ve heard so much about Daniel Defoe, but have not really read him, not even “Robinson Crusoe”! These characters are all geniuses, but so very different, it seems (Defoe, Richardson, Fielding). “Tom Jones” is an absolute riot! Not as long as “Clarissa,” but close. All three deserve even more recognition than they have already, I think, say, at UD. “Moll Flanders” has been collecting dust at home for decades; hope to remedy this at some point…before I die.
