Count
A count noun is a noun that can have a plural.
- a cat, one cat, the cat; cats, some cats, many cats, ten cats
- life. lives.
- advantage. advantages
- mile. miles
A non-count noun is a noun that has no plural.
- indigestion
- haste
- mayonaise
- granite
- justice
Some nouns can at times be count, at other times non-count.
- wine
- Non-Count: “I drink wine with every meal.”
- Count: “This store sells many fine wines.”
- virtue
- Non-Count: “Vice is always at war with virtue.”
- Count: “Justice and prudence are cardinal virtues.”
