The virtual replication of a course I used to teach in real time on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, viewed in the context of the literary traditions out of which they sprang.
A course that aims at gaining insight into J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings by looking at almost everything else he wrote, as well as looking at what he wrote about.
This unit examines Professor Tolkien's famous essay "On Fairy-Stories" and does its own pondering of the nature of fairies, Faerie, and fairy stories.
